Vacating the Zone

Well, I managed to take a bit of time off to visit some friends over the weekend, and I was unable to get to a place where I could put some posts up. I got caught the one time I tried to sneak off and indulge my guilty pleasure, and I didn't bother trying again.

I did manage to take a few snapshots during the trip:

This is a shot of the view from the balcony of our hotel room over the weekend
the view looking towards downtown from our balcony
This is Ally and I extremely full of very good "Chinese" food (not the real thing - the North Americanized version of the culinary art) in front of the place where we gorged ourselves
The best faux Chinese food in the known universe
This is a pic of a fellow traveller
Proof that I'm not the only American who can't stand the Chimperor
For some strange reason, I think we both feel more welcome in the Great White North than we do in our own homes.

Lots more to talk about. But for now, I have to catch up on all the news I've been avoiding since last Friday. Many thanks to Joe & Heather, Mark & Nathalie, Doug and his cousin Doug (who we couldn't find enough time to see this weekend - D'oh!), Doc, Stu & Mary, and all the chilluns of these esteemed individuals that we got to interact with over the long weekend.

It's a good thing I'm not religious - I hear that there was a patch of bad weather that miraculously (cough) cleared up just before we got there, it was gorgeous (if a little cool - just the way I like it!) all weekend long, and when we pulled out of Toronto on Monday just after noon it started raining, only to end just before we got back across the border. Stuff like that happens to the Chimperor, and the next thing you know we've invaded another country...
