It's time once again, ladies and gentlemen, for the Stanley Cup to get handed over again for another year. And there's a new name on the Cup at last - the last ten years or so have been a battle of a few dynasties (and it gets worse as you go back in time). Congrats to the Tampa Bay Lightning on their hard earned victory.
As usual, there was considerable controversy this year. The Phantom Goal will haunt Calgary for some time. And the chippy play by both teams left quite a bit to be desired. But it was certainly an exciting and entertaining playoff this year. Now it's just a ahort summer (in Canadian terms) until the World Cup (previously known as the Canada Cup) is contested in September.
I hope they have enough crying towels stocked up in the Great White North, eh?
