Funny Farm Exclusive

We have a lot of spirits around the Funny Farm. Of almost every type you can imagine. So it should not come as a surprise to any of the dozens multitudes that come to visit every day, that, after reading this post from Body and Soul, the ghost of Ray Charles came by for a spell.

He told me to tell Jeanne that he was never into politics too much in the first place, and that in no way should one stellar performance (out of thousands in his career) before a bunch of the elite be construed to mean that he is in support of the present bastardization of conservative politics being rammed down America's throat by the junta occupying the WhiteWash House at this time. He said you've just about got it right - he was never about feeling sorry for his lot in life, and mostly about making music. And he said you don't need to keep all those flags at half-mast for him anymore. Just get on with your lives, and try and help those around you get more out of life.

We got to talking about these weblog thingys too, Jeanne, after I mentioned that you had some doubts about why you should continue pointing out the obvious to those who already know all about it. He mentioned a few things that we all might be wise to consider:

- it is not always the case that everyone always knows all of the dish on any particular topic. Or that the blogs they read on a regular basis will bring up the subject at all. Besides, you might feel differently, or emphasize one facet of the topic that others ignore.

- it is good to set an example for others. Talking about your views on a subject might help others articulate their own. And putting up commentary and links to interesting things to read helps spread the knowledge everywhere.

- the media whores have finally realized that they need to report on reality (instead of spinning Repugnicant propaganda) once in a while. They could decide tomorrow that they no longer need to perform this service for us, and then how will we find out what's going on?

There was probably more to the discussion, but that's all I could remember after the fever dream visit from the angels ended. That and something about how nice it was to finally see the ladies once again...

[Ed. Note: The first draft of this was made Thursday night, when I thought it odd that the flags were still flying at half mast for pRezNit Ray-Gun. They are still at half mast at the time of posting this...]
