Did the U.S. hand sovereignty over to Iraqi puppet show Iraqi government in name only to avoid having Bremer declare martial law?
Actually the BFEE turned Iraq over to Puppet # 2 or # 3 (or whatever number they're up to now) two days early in order to take attention away from Fahrenheit 9/11's success.

The answer to your question is, "yes". Incompetentaleeza Rice said exactly that (unbelievably "on the record"): the purpose of the entire "sovereignty transfer" is so that after the next round of atrocities, Bush Administration officials can say "We're not in charge anymore, go ask the Iraqis!"
The problem with this that the Iraqis won't be taking a sovereignty transfer of the body bags and those troops duly sacrificed on the altar of Bush-Cheney 2004; those still belong to us.

Giving back Iraq without demanding reparations, or taking everything of value, is almost unheard of in the annals of history.
God bless America.
