It's generally not a good business practice to refuse to answer any questions from members until they give you a short resume and their life history for the past three years. Especially when the customer service representative (cough) grills you in a superbly condescending fashion when all you want is some non-account specific questions answered. And you don't have forever and a day to hand over all of your sensitive information to a complete stranger for no good reason at all.
It's also nice to know that this company would be treating non-members much worse than they treated someone who was actually paying their salary. Not to suggest that you should take your business away from HAP if it's at all possible or anything like that...
