Blogging 101

Today's assignment: can you correctly set up a trackback to this post on your blog?

Mea culpa: we here at the Funny Farm have tried to do a lot of trackbacks (since we're linking to all and sundry on an almost daily basis), but sometimes we get a report from our blog activity logs saying that the trackback was not successful. Our current bloglord has been trying to be a Force For Good In Our TimeTM (even more so than he usually does), so we haven't bothered him about this possible problem (we could just be frelling up the process on our end, you know...) or any of the others we have ran into for the last few months. Maybe we will ask again in the next few months...

Update: we have now been officially (cough) promoted to Blogger First Class but we can't add the Blogger's Trackback Badge to our memento collection. Rook says we are cheating because we don't use Haloscan for our comments system (Moveable Type handles it automagically for us), and that the test was for those bloggers only. He also informs us that we are already in the Blogger First Class category. We are extremely flattered by this...

Actually, having the depth of archieves, I'd say your a Blogging Warrant Officer. Oh, wait. You're still using MT 2.661. This will not do. No sir-ree. A Blogger First Class must at all times be in the current uniform of the day. Behavior unbecoming a Blogger!

All kidding aside, upgrading to MT 3.14 (they do have a free version still available, but only for one auther and three blogs) will not change your layout at all. I know this. Because when I upgraded it left my screwed up template still screwed up in exactly the same way, except that it said version 3.14!

Yes, but I'm only using what my blgolord (perkel dot com) provides me with. This version of MT really sucks for me, by the way. I can only see one word at a time when I post.

Can I personally switch my PC to MT 3.14 when the server hosts 2.661?

You didn't install MT on the server yourself? If your server can handle 2.661, it can most definitly handle 3.12. MT is a server side program only. You have no part of the program on your PC.

So, no there is not way to switch to 3.14 on your PC alone.

However, I do know how to update from 2.661 to 3.14. But, it would require me to have access to your server by way of FTP.
