[Part six of a neverending series that we may just do again]
From South Knox bubba's comments, while talking about the recent Of Course We'll Take Your Land Any Damn Time We Feel Like It ruling by the Supremely Repugnicant Court:
Where are we going and why am I in a handbasket? Say Uncle |
Thanks for the plug. However, I can't take credit for it and forgot where I read it.
Worth noting that the Conservatives voted correctly in this case, not the libs.
Posted by: SayUncle at June 24, 2005 10:14 AMSince there are no liberals in the Supreme Court with the possible exception of Ginsburg, only moderate to extreme conservatives, not really much of a point to note.
Posted by: (: Tom :) at June 24, 2005 10:19 AM"no liberals in the Supreme Court"
You're kidding, right?
Posted by: SayUncle at June 24, 2005 10:35 AMYes, I will take on this piece of Republic spin:
Rehnquist: started out intimidating minority voters for Republic party. Extreme libertarian conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Stevens: moderate conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
O' Connor: moderate conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Scalia: extremely theocratic conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Kennedy: moderate conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Souter: moderate conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Thomas: extreme conservative. Installed by Republic pResident.
Ginsberg: moderate liberal. Installed by Democratic pResident.
Breyer: moderate conservative. Installed by Democratic pResident.
That's [and I'm being (cough) conservative here], 7 1/2 - to - 1 1/2 by me.

Posted by: (: Tom :) at June 24, 2005 11:08 AMI don't really think that the party that appointed them denotes their conservativeness or liberalness. But point taken.
Posted by: SayUncle at June 24, 2005 11:20 AMI don't really think that the party that appointed them denotes their conservativeness or liberalness.
You seriously don't think that there's a difference in who gets nominated to the courts that has at least a passing relation to which party is in power? You don't think that Repugnicants tend to nominate moderate to extreme conservatives, and that Democrats tend to nominate moderately liberal to moderately conservative candidates for judicial positions in the courts?
That must be why everyone has no problem with any of Putsch's installees to the courts so far. And why all of this manuevering has been going on about whether he'll appoint someone to the Supreme Court, and/or whom he'll nominate - because everyone thinks that there's no difference who gets nominated to the SCOTUS because of their party affiliation.
I can't seriously believe that you're trying to promote even this distortion of the situation. Mainly because I thought you were one of the few true conservatives out there who don't reflexively shill for the Repugnicants.
My bad...
