Super Handjob

Fryday, 11 Shivring 2005

Well, I have watched more than enough of this Super Bowl To see that the powers that be want Pittsburgh to win this game. The Roethlisburger "touchdown" didn't make it into the end zone, I saw three linemen holding on the pass to Hines Ward that set it up, and the offensive pass interference call on the first Seattle touchdown had to have been one of the worst calls I have ever seen in a football game. And I've seen a lot of them...

It's too bad, really. The only point of interest now is the commercials - and that's not enough to keep me watching this travesty. If you're going to hand the Super Bowl to the Steelers, then just do it and be done with it.

By the way, did anyone else notice that the commercials with players and coaches talking about how much the super Bowl means to them were all Steelers? What an amazing coincidence. Almost like somebody had decided before the game even started that the Steelers were going to win...

Update 8:57PM Eastern: I turned the Cheneying game on again for a brief moment, to see if I could catch any other cool commercials (boy oh boy would I like to have one of those magic fridges!). Guess which play was the first one that I saw? That's right - the 74-yard interception that has led to Seattle's first touchdown. Not that I'm saying that weird happenings like that (turning the dial to a game to see one of the defining plays of that game as soon as I turn it on) happen to happen to me all the time. Except that they do with startling frequency...

Tom, are you suggesting there's another reason they're called the "Steelers"?

Hmmmm... I should have thought of that. I should have called them the Stealers...
