Whereupon I try once again to challenge you, dear reader: can you name the artist and the song title that these lyrics come from? I will be very surprised (and disappointed) if no one knows any of these. No online searches for lyrics (that would be cheating!).

And, yes, I'm looking at Thudfactor and T.Rex and Rook and the Suburban Guerrilla to at least take a stab at these.

There could be multiple correct answers for some of these. Any one of them will do.

You should have seen the last one. These are all (but two) relatively major artists who have charted in the billboard top 30 (I'm not sure if they've all had a number one hit, but most of them have. And the others were pretty close - although not necessarily with the songs I picked here).
