Quick Note To Apple/Macintosh and Micro Center

Sunday, 12 Infusion 2007

When the local Apple rep at Micro Center sells me a copy of the Mac OS/X for more than I paid for the used Mac I got, I expect it to work properly. When I find out (once I got the package home - partially my fault because I trusted that someone would sell me something I can use, after I explained my situation to them) that the software I was sold is on DVD, and I only have a CD drive in my Mac, it causes considerable frustration. When I then get some lip from your service (cough) department, and Micro Center's service (cough) department, and some helpful (cough) suggestions about buying a standalone DVD drive (for more money than I paid for the Mac and the [unreadable] software), and then I find out that if I pay you some more money, you'll give me OS/X on CD, well, then it causes enough frustration that I (i) curse out your frelling useless Mac rep at the store; (ii) post something like this to warn all and sundry that Apple sucks, and Micro Center sucks more; and (iii) make sure it costs you more than you rooked from me.

Oh, and Micro Center? You know that grand a year or so that I used to spend at your store? Kiss it goodbye...

Wow, how old is that Mac? They've been coming with DVD drives standard for ages. But yes, Micro Center seems to have gone *seriously* downhill. I discovered them in 2003, and by 2004 the local store had turned to crap.

As far as Apple sucking, don't you know that Every OS sucks?

It's a blueberry G3 that I got a while ago. i was similarly impressed with Micro Center until this episode.

Somebody is lending me their standalone DVD drive. I'm going to try and use that to install, and, if it works, then I'm done. Otherwise, I guess I'll have to pick up an internal IDE DVD drive and install it myself. Might as well get a burner while I'm at it...

Just FYI, you're probably going to be VERY disappointed with the speed of OS X on a G3 if/once you get it installed.

And yes, although they usually have some of the best pries, Micro Center has absolutely no idea what customer service is.
