I was going to write a nice piece about my adventures this weekend, but I've been having so much fun, and I've got so much to do to get to the Corn Festival, that I don't really want to get into it right now. Except to give a big shout out to MarkNat and the Rugrats (who have grown into the Five Beauteous Babes - my, how the time flies!), the wondrous charms of another bewitching beauty from the Great White North who took some time out and answered the karmic call, and the lack of serious frustration during eighteen holes at the Cresthaven Golf Club with a couple of my friends.
Have yourself a safe and happy holiday if you're in the greater North American area over the next fortnight - a couple of places are celebrating birthdays, and you never know when, say, a sobriety-challenged father might insist on picking up one of his daughters on a Saturday night. Be careful out there!

...I think I'm in love:
Thanks for saying most everything I've been meaning to say, and wanting others to hear, ever since the choice made plain to me was between the cokehead or the pot smoker*, and I was busy worrying about the impending (cough) Y2K crash**. I think that Wellstone has been well honored with your tribute to his vision.
And, of course, feel free to leave me a comment any time. While I'm not anywhere near the People's Republic of Santa Monica***, virtually, Hullaballoo is right down the road from the American Street and the Funny Farm. I've heard you've even hung around the Street once upon a time. Please feel free to drop by any time - your voice is always welcome here.

* - the cokehead won...
** - which I was relatively certain was a tempest on a teapot.
*** - I think I'm sort of equidistant from that locale, the People's Republic of Seabrook, and the the Republic of Jose Ceurvo.

In light of this video evidence:
Would one of you possibly be able to ask SnowJob this question (or something similar to it):
How do you reconcile your statement of March 15th that the attorneys general firings were performance based with your statement of June 13th that you never said that the firings were performance based? |
Thanks in advance...
Much appreciation goes out to my good friend the Hollywood Liberal for showing me the way to this gem.

In my previous post, I expressed some of my considerable frustration with Apple/Macintosh, and in particular their lack of backwards compatibility and their insistence on upgrading software on my (regrettably ancient, computer-wise) older Mac. I believe I made the statement that Apple sucks.
After careful consideration, I have decided to revise my opinion about Apple.
My new position is that Apple sucks big donkey balls. For fun.

When the local Apple rep at Micro Center sells me a copy of the Mac OS/X for more than I paid for the used Mac I got, I expect it to work properly. When I find out (once I got the package home - partially my fault because I trusted that someone would sell me something I can use, after I explained my situation to them) that the software I was sold is on DVD, and I only have a CD drive in my Mac, it causes considerable frustration. When I then get some lip from your service (cough) department, and Micro Center's service (cough) department, and some helpful (cough) suggestions about buying a standalone DVD drive (for more money than I paid for the Mac and the [unreadable] software), and then I find out that if I pay you some more money, you'll give me OS/X on CD, well, then it causes enough frustration that I (i) curse out your frelling useless Mac rep at the store; (ii) post something like this to warn all and sundry that Apple sucks, and Micro Center sucks more; and (iii) make sure it costs you more than you rooked from me.
Oh, and Micro Center? You know that grand a year or so that I used to spend at your store? Kiss it goodbye...
