Sweet Jeebus H. Koresh On A Crutch

Thursday, 5 Gathring 2007

I had to show some of the less fervent of my readers* one of the funnier exchanges** I have seen for a while :

Clutch414 said, September 27, 2007 at 22:01

Doesn't anyone on the right source check?

I said it before and now I'll say it again…Sweet Zombie Jesus, that just DUMB!!

Sweet Zombie Jesus said, September 27, 2007 at 22:08

I resent being judged by the actions of a few extreme followers. Though I may have decided to let them into heaven, it does not mean that I condone their research methods or political views, anymore than Dr. Pantload printing an email shows agreement of the views expressed in said email. This should be obvious.

Sweet Zombie Jesus then also said, September 27, 2007 at 22:10

agreement with the views…etc

Clutch414 said, September 27, 2007 at 22:11

This is just so self-serving and transparent.

How come the only time they are concerned with gays' and women's rights is when those rights are being impugned in a country they want bomb?

Clutch414 then also said, September 27, 2007 at 22:11

Praise you, Sweet Zombie Jesus.

Sweet Zombie Jesus said, September 27, 2007 at 22:21

That's all it takes… you're in, Clutch414.

Clutch414 said, September 27, 2007 at 22:24

Sweet Zombie Jesus, may I be so bold to ask your Grace a question?

Are you related to Jesus H. Christ or Jesus F'n Christ? I had a friend in high school who had a crusty old grandfather who used to invoke those two all the time. First cousins maybe?

And as always…Praise you, Sweet Zombie Jesus.

Jesus Fv@cking Christ said, September 27, 2007 at 22:27

Just for the record, I'm of no relation to that Zombie Christ a$$hole, and we're not on speaking terms.

[spasms of laughter prevent further viewing of this comments thread.]

Found in the frightfully amusing comments to this post over at Sadly, No!.

** - Quick observation: Slogging through big comments sections is quite often unexpectedly rewarding. But it consumes tons of I/O, lots of bandswidths on the intartoobz, and has to be continually checked for problems with the chair-to-keyboard interface*** - often so much so that it causes memory drain. And you end up spending hours reading comments on a screen...

This and That

Humpday, 4 Gathring 2007

Yes, I have been remiss in providing bloggy goodness to all and sundry. Again. I've been busy.

Yes, I had a chance to meet my friend who just got a big horking mass of melanoma removed from his right arm. They took some skin off of his inner thigh to replace the cancerous growth that was there. Other than some discomfort dealing with the raw mass that needs to regrow skin, he seems to be doing fine. Way to go, Bud!

Yes, I also had a chance to party with a pair of nineteen year old twins. After having had my buttocks handed to me by their father earlier on the golf course. And helping to cook up chicken and veggie kabobs thoughtfully assembled by elves while we were out on the course (well... I mostly helped with the dsiposal of said kabobs, and moral support to the grillmeister). I had almost forgotten the youthful capacity for alcoholic consumption - and I certainly found out that I can't keep up any more. Praise Koresh I had the foresight to take Monday off as an extra recovery vacation day. Your Humble Narrator managed to imbibe about fifteen drinks or so before drunken stupor caused accurate counts to be unavailable.

Yes, I find the hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance associated with Reich wingnut outrage has increased (even though I can't imagine how they function with that tenuous a grip on reality right now). I wonder how Rush Limbaugh would react if he was treated like all the other the law breaking Oxycontin addicts out there, or if there was a sense of the senate motion condeming him for bad mouthing the troops (in a manner that was worse than the Move On ad IMHO). I wonder how the Catholic League of Hypocrites would react if there were anti-prayer vigils and protesters in town hall meetings demanding that building permits for christian religious buildings be revoked because of all the pederasts that would be moving into the community*. Or people harrassing the construction workers assembling the religious building. Or white powder sent to them in plain white envelopes. Or picketing with posters showing the children abused by christian religious figures, videotaping said christian religious figures, and naming names - after all, if you can show pictures of fetuses, you should be able to show pictures of real, live, kids, too. Right?

Yes, I find the capitulation of the Democratic politicians (who are in the majority) to the Republican't obstructionists in the government (who, surprisingly enough, have engaged in hyperpartisan political posturing that ignores taking care of government responsibilities so that Democratic politicians look bad) disturbing. Particularly so when they ask for more money from me so that they can take it up the bum from the Republican'ts. Again.

Yes, I find it somewhat disturbing that recently, there was a lot of attention focused on the striking workers in the GM-UAW contract negotiations - but not a heck of a lot on the corpo-weasels and their multimillion dollar salary, benefit, bonus, and retirement packages. Funny thing - the executroid perks are usually guaranteed (regardless of performance), yet the pension funds of ordinary workers can be eliminated. And that companies can demand pay cuts, benefit cuts, and increased hours from its' regular employees - but start bitching about any kind of reining in of executive compensation.

And, yes, I have been studiously avoiding commenting on these issues. Because it's just the same old same old once more, and there are still people who buy into the Republican't disinformation dumps, and waste even more of the nation's time and energy on ridiculous horse hockey such as petty partisan obstructionist politics, religious insanity, and corporate welfare projects. But the farging Irony Alert Siren keeps going off - even though I've pulverized it, it seems to keep on re-forming itself like those advanced terminator models in the movies.

So I'll be here, reading some of that real journalism coming from the progressive blogsphere, and waiting for the adults to be in charge again. Talk to you later...

* - Yes, I know that there might not be pederasts moving in. But I also know that there is more truth in my disingenuous smear than there is in their disingenuous smears. And that a concern for truth is surprisingly missing in a supposedly christian organization when they blatantly lie about non-christian behavior in order to further their taxpayer subsidized partisan political exercises.

Maybe that's why I'm not quite so enamored of christianity in general as I used to be...

Sign Of The Times

Sunday, 25 Falltring 2007

The US dollar is now trading at an exchange rate that is within one cent of the Canadian dollar. I'm so old, I remember when one US dollar would get you more than $1.50 Canadian in return...

Heed The Call

Sunday, 25 Falltring 2007

Meteor Blades has an excellent idea that he posted about over at Daily Kos:

Spread the Outcry. Black Armbands on Friday, Please.

Come September 21, tens of thousands of people, perhaps hundreds of thousands, will participate in the first Iraq Moratorium, a national day of locally organized opposition to the disastrous war and occupation of Iraq. No need for a pricey airline ticket, or an all-night drive across the country. The Iraq Moratorium will take place right in your neighborhood. You don't need puppets, or face-paint, or renowned speakers, and you don't need to chant, "Hey, hey! Ho, ho! Mister Bush has gotta go!"

[snip]

If you do nothing else, wear a black armband to school, to work, to Disneyland, to wherever you go Friday as silent testimony to your opposition to the war and occupation, to your mourning of its consequences and to your determination to help end it. If you've got time, you could print a word or a few on it: Withdraw Now. End the War Now. Or some such.

[snip]

I think this is an excellent idea. How about you?

A Spanking! A Spanking!

Saturday, 24 Falltring 2007

Is it Zoot? Or is it Dingo? Only her dominatrix knows for sure!

[picture shamelessly stolen creatively acquired from playing the DVD and taking a picture of the screen with my digital camera]

Courtesy of Rheinhard in the comments to this Oliver Willis post (with a tip of the hat to Street denizen Pharyngula, too - it's a small world after all!), we get a chance to see what happens when Intelligent (cough) Design shill William Dembski is confronted with, like, logic and facts and stuff.

Some of the more scientifically specific arguments and jargon went beyond Your Humble Narrator's comprehension and knowledge limitations. But the gist of the conversation came through loud and clear. As did the obfuscatory tactics, lying, and hypocrisy from the IDiots. Just wondering: since when is it okay to attempt to use deception, slander, and intimidation on behalf of furthering the cause of the Invisible Sky Fairy? My holdovers from the pagan occult brainwashing sessions of my youth tell me that this is one of those sin thingys that are supposed to be avoided by the religiously insane. I certainly hope that won't cause them any trouble should their warped fantasies about the afterlife have some sort of validity...

Say Hi To The New Guy

Fryday, 23 Falltring 2007

It gives me great pleasure to welcome a fellow minion of Satan ghost in the machine co-worker to the Links Zone (and on a Fryday no less!). Go over and say hi to the Old Bad Fat Liberal (who is actually just a tad older than Your Humble Narrator, not completely bald [yet!], and not particularly grossly obese, just running around with a few extra pounds like the rest of us) and them him the Funny Farm sent you!

Suddenly I'm Not Feeling Quite So Good Any More

Friday, 22 Falltring 2007

Kevin Drum (nee Calpundit) points the way to an article in the online zine that pays his bills:

Newtered

Now, besides the catchy name which reminds me that the Gingrinch has had his stake pulled out and walks the earth once more, this article also tells me that my recent health improvements might be due more to my own efforts in diet management and weight reduction (30 lbs since the end of June! Thanks for asking...) than the angioplasty and Borg implant government monitoring device cardiac stent that was recently installed in Your Humble Narrator:

And the most recent example of a dramatic upset: a VA study, released earlier this year, which found that angioplasty and cardiac stents are no better at preventing a heart attack than so-called "medical management"—that is, getting patients with risk factors for heart disease to lose weight, exercise, and take medicines to lower their high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Damn you, George Steinbrenner!

Overheard In Conversation

Humpday, 20 Falltring 2007

I managed to sneak in a visit to some of the family recently. One of my brothers and his wife were down in Mexico a couple of weeks ago, and couldn't wait to tell me about an encounter they had down there.

It seems that they met two couples from the United States during their vacation. One couple were Republican'ts; the other couple were Democrats. The couples were interacting without any problems until sometime mid-week, when it quickly became apparent that they were on opposite sides of the political spectrum. Once the political differences were out in the open, the Republican'ts refused to talk to the Democrats and actively avoided them for the rest of the week. It certainly made an impression with my family - one of which is pretty conservative, and one who is pretty liberal - that one side was more than willing to interact, more open to discussion, and more inclined to dismiss the political differences between them, than the other.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for passing the tale along to Your Humble Narrator, so that I could pass it along to you.

Mini Hiatus

Humpday, 13 Falltring 2007

It's been a while, kiddies, and there's so little to say, and so much time to say it...

Wait. Strike that, and reverse it.*

And it seems that the not-so-good times will continue in at least one of my personal circles, as a good friend has recently found out that he has a nasty case of melanoma. So he's looking forward (cough) to some intense treatment, and hopefully a remission or cessation of the condition. I'm probably going to be heading his way soon, and I'd be happy to pass him along any good thoughts and hopes of getting through this. Get well, soon, bud - so that (among other things) we can spend many more years rooting for the Habs together!

On the other side of the karmic wheel, I am happy to let all and sundry know that I will be attending a birthday blowout for two smoking hotties (twins!) in the near future, upon the occasion of their nineteenth birthday. Now that they can drink in Canadian bars legally, I'm sure they will be finding out first hand how many people will stand a pretty girl a drink in the hopes that fun and adventure will ensue.

Otherwise, it's fall Meerkun football season again - where did the summer go? - and the new product roll out I'm interested in involves Trent Green displaying Marino-like capabilities and Jet, Bills, and Patriot spankings over the next several weeks. In my current unrealistic best-case scenarios. I'll probably just witness more Fin dismantling as is usual these days...

The current misadministration continues in its' record levels of hypocrisy, lies, high crimes, and ruination of the nation. Every day the BFEE extends their record further. IMHO when somehow they can be gotten out of most things (there's no way they can be gotten out of everything) there might be a semblance of a chance to get back on track.

Which brings me to my last point** - I've added a few things to the Funny Farm Country Store (in particular, a bumper sticker that expresses my sentiments about the results of BFEE policies rather well). You can always get there from this site by clicking on the big picture of the Back Forty at the top of this web page. And you can always buy stuff from there if you like, too!

I'm not really sure when or where the blogging bug will strike again. There might be a (so mind blowingly easy) Guess Ten (at least 'round these parts) in the future, with prizes and such. And there might be something so utterly off my personal scale that my fingers will be compelled to add to the InterTubez clutter regarding its' absurdity. You just never know...

* - [Whap!]

"Ow!"

"No, no, no - hold your head like this, and then say "Waaaa?" Try it again...

** - as the crowd screams with enjoyment!
